Operation: Cool Down
Los Santos PD
OPERATION TERMINATED
What is Operation: Cool Down?
Operation: Cool Down (O:CD for short) is a new LSPD involved operation that is aimed to reduce the speeding and other recklessness on the streets of the Los Santos Region. There will be roadblocks at certain stretches of roads, on the main ones basically, and there will be police enforced traffic checks which can impose a search of the vehicle, but not the driver nor the passengers.
When does O:CD start or take effect?
The operation will take place starting now until the end of December, 2009.
About the search, what is it for?
Street races in the LS Region has died out, this is a very good thing, but the reckless driving, including speeding and hit and run (Man Slaughter and Second Degree Murder) is still a all-time high. Usually, drivers driving at very high speeds and dangerously manuevering their vehicle have something to hide. To protect privacy issues, the officers at the gate are not permitted to search the drivers but are permitted to search the vehicle. If anything is found, such as illegal firearms, drugs, or other counterbands; the driver is then automatically issued a Search Warrant on himself and the officer(s) at the checkpoint will be permitted to a spot on search of the driver and the passengers, if any.
What can we do to make the process fast or faster that it is already?
The best way is to co-operate. Do as the officers say. If they say open the trunk, do it. If they say step out of the vehicle, do it. The less arguments there are, the faster things will go. If you have any questions, or want to report an officer for possibly violating any protocols or privacy, you may send in a Officer Report paper to the reportanofficer@lspd.gov. The officers at the desk will start an investigation and check whether or not they have over-stepped their authorization.
What if I do not want to show the inside of the trunk?
Well, frankly, if you dont have anything to hide, there should be no reason to hide anything. If you do, however, not want to open your trunk and do not want to take part O:CD, there isnt much you can do but to not drive. All vehicles, that are stopped at checkpoints, are automatically subjected to a vehicle search. There is one way to not have your vehicle checked, but that requires a document from either the LSPD High Command or the Mayor himself. If you got them, please show them to the officer at the checkpoints.
